“I’ve got to make a cabinet for Master Smith”. Where is my peeling iron? OH!! I didn’t realize you were here. Hi my name is Mark Purcell. I’m a Carpenter, Let me tell you how to make a cabinet. First you get to peel the bark from a tree trunk with a peeling iron. It is really hard to peel the bark off a dead tree. You have to hew the piece of wood. It makes the wood look square. Then you have to measure the length of the wood to make sure it is correct. If I am making a table for someone it must be the size they want. I stain the wood with varnishes, vegetable dye, and oils. My favorite furniture to make is a chair, because it is easy to make. The hardest part of my job is getting the brass to make the cabinet. If you will excuse me, I have to get back to my work.
