On Colonial Day, guests had to first enter the room and receive a lesson from Mistress Bennett's students about the workings of a Colonial Schoolroom. The students is the class enacted a short play about incidents that could occur in a colonial schoolroom. Then there were two activities for guests to complete. These included doing some calligraphy with a quill pen and ink and making a horn book. Children from the other classrooms practiced writing their names with a quill pen and hung their hornbooks around their necks like obedient colonial children.
