Mortar and Pestle

by Alicia L. '14
A mortar is a clay pot and a pestle is a big stone stick. People in colonial times used this so they could smash solids and make little crumbs. Cinnamon is made from a tree so they smash the bark with the pestle and then they would get powdered cinnamon.
