  1. The boys who went to school had to bring fire wood and if you forgot you would have to sit in the coldest part of the room.
  2. The boys wrote with goose-quill pens dipped in homemade ink and a lump of lead.
  3. No one cared how words were spelled.
  4. They went to school writing their words neatly.
  5. In school all the teachers wanted to do was embarrass you.
