This book is about a girl named Vicki and her friend Peter. Vicki's father leases the Seashell Room, which contains a very old figurehead from a lost ship the "Storm Goddess." Someone decides that the figurehead needs restoring. When the figurehead is taken down, and Vicki looks inside, something really weird happens. The whole bay dries up, and the lost ship "Storm Goddess" appears! Vicki finds a journal that was kept by the quartermaster of the ship. As she reads through it she finds information about a thousand gold doubloons on the ship. While reading she becomes more and more certain that she has to go aboard the ship and save the ship from the curse. She has a man chasing her named Belper who wants to get his hands on the journal and the gold. How does she unlock the curse and find the doubloons before Belper?
