This easy reader book is one of a series of books
by Cynthia Rylant called the Henry and Mudge books. Puddle
Trouble has three chapters which are like three different
stories. One is about a flower called a snowglory and Henry
wants to pick it and put it in a vase on the kitchen table because
he thinks it is beautiful. By accident Mudge, his big dog,
eats the snowglory and Henry gets mad, but then he thinks to himself
that it is only a flower
and he forgives Mudge.
The second story is about when Henry and Mudge go
outside in the rain without asking Henry's dad. They walk down
the road and find a big puddle which they jump into. Then
Henry's dad doosn't know where Henry is and goes calling for him.
When he finds Henry, he doesn't get mad. He just says,
"Invite me along next time," as he jumps in the puddle
with Henry and Mudge.
The next chapter is about five kittens next door
that Henry and Mudge love to see. One day when Henry is at school,
Mudge smells another dog outside near the kittens. Once Mudge
gets outside, he goes over to the house and guards the kittens.
When Henry comes home, he finds Mudge sitting near the kittens.
