Homeless Bird is
the story of a 13 year old girl named Koly
living in India. Koly is forced to leave her home
and family and marry a young man. However, she finds out that he is
truly a sick boy, and he needs the dowry money of a bride to take him
to the Ganges River which his parents believe will cure him. Will he
die, leaving Koly to an unspeakable widow's fate? Or will he survive,
and leave them both trapped in an unhappy marriage? Read the book to
find out.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to
people who like books with strong heroines who are independent and
hard-working.
