Title:  Parzival:   The Quest of the Grail Knights
Author:  Retold by Katherine Paterson
Reviewer:   Reed M. ’08

This story is about a boy named Parzival who lives in the wilderness with his mother who has always ignored King Arthur and his knights. One day the boy meets three knights and goes off to the court of King Arthur. Arthur allows him to become a knight. Parzival wins many combats and many women’s hearts. He finds himself a kingdom called Wild Mountain and he meets a king that thinks he is very smart. When Parzival fails to say the word that will heal this king’s wound, that is killing him, Parzival must then take on a quest.

Mrs. Paterson’s retelling of this story is very interesting and detailed. She also shows how hard it was back then to become a knight. I thought this was an excellent book and I would like to read another of Mrs. Paterson’s retold stories. If you decide to read this book I hope you like it as much as I did.
