'11 This is the sequel to
The Indian in the Cupboard, a
book I read and reviewed earlier this year. In this book, the boy
introduced in the first book, Omri, wants to see his Indian friend,
Little Bear. He soon finds himself in the middle of some exciting and
dangerous adventures. Since this book takes place years after the first
one did, Omri has changed and the plastic figures have, too. First,
Little Bear is now fighting in a revolutionary war against the French,
and gets injured in battle. Tommy, the military doctor, gets killed.
Omri and his friend, Patrick figure out how to oversee the world of the
plastic figures anytime they want. This sequel is much more suspenseful
than The Indian in the Cupboard, and just as well-written. If you
liked the first book, this book is for you. This sequel would
definitely be easier to understand if you have read The Indian in the
Cupboard.
These books are both probably best for readers in grades
4-6. I recommend this sequel based on its high level of action and suspense!
