This book starts with Jared, Simon, and Mallory going to school. When Thimbletack the faerie leads Jared and Mallory to the seeing stone which grants you sight to magical creatures, Jared must save his brother Simon. Along the way they run into a troll, a griffen, and a hobgoblin. Will Jared and Mallory save Simon and make it back alive? Read this book to find out.

This the 2nd book in the Spiderwick series.

The Grace children have another adventure in the secret room of their new house.  They find the Field Guide and meet up with their friend Thimbletack and discover a special seeing stone eye piece.  There is a goblin attack on Simon and he gets rescued by his sister and brother.  They also rescue, Griffin, a bird captured and beaten by the goblins and a troll.  They nurse the giant bird back to health and keep it in their carriage house as a pet.

I don't think this was as good as the first book because it wasn't as exciting as Book 1. I would rate this an eight out of ten.  Boys and girls would like this book.  My favorite part of the book was when they saved Simon from the goblins.

The three children  find themselves being attacked by goblins because they want the book. (see Spiderwick Chronicles #1, The Field Guide.)  Jared has found a gadget that lets him see special things and when Simon is lost and is taken by the goblins they will really need luck to get out of this brutal encounter.

Reaction: I love how the author puts a new character in every book.  I enjoy this because each character somehow gets them out of a problem.
