Instead of the school being thirty floors across, it
was built thirty floors high. All kinds of crazy things happen
especially on the thirteenth floor. You will meet Mrs.Gorf, the meanest
teacher of them all. She turns her class into apples. The book describes
different people and their personalities and it gets crazier by the
second. I enjoyed this book because it was really funny. It had things
that made you want to laugh out loud while you're reading the book in
school.

The name of the book I read is Sideways Stories From Wayside School
by Louis Sachar. This was a hilarious book about a school that is
thirty stories high. Each chapter talks about a different kid and there
is a different problem that happens to the kid every day. I really
like this book and it is one of the funniest books I ever read. I
recommend this book to everyone. Even if you don’t like funny stories,
this book will make you like them. Have a good time reading.

| Reviewer: Mia J. '10 One of the books I read over the summer was SIDEWAYS STORIES STORIES FROM
WAYSIDE SCHOOL. This book is about a classroom on the top floor of Wayside School
(Oh, did I tell you that the school was built sideways and that there is 30 floors without
an elevator?). This book tells about the kids in the top floor classroom, and all the
weird and funny things that happen to them. One day a new kid joins the thirtieth floor
classroom of Wayside School. This kid Sammy acts very suspicious.
What's the truth about Sammy? What's in store for Wayside School's thirtieth floor
classroom on Halloween? Read this book to find out the secret of Sammy.
I love this book because its a real page turner--you won't be able
to put it down!

| Reviewer: Todd C. '09 Wayside School is thirty stories high with one classroom on each
story. It should have been built as one story with thirty classrooms on that
one story. In this collection of funny stories, you meet many characters, including
the students from the 30th floor and Mrs. Gorf, the meanest teacher in the whole wide
world. All of these stories are very funny and entertaining. I recommend this book
to people who like funny stories with outrageous problems.

| Reviewer: Jon G. 09 This
book is the first in a series of books about Wayside School. I have already read two
others in the series, but I did not enjoy this book as much.
There is no story line at all. Each chapter is about a teacher or a
student in the class and about their routines at school. This book was not that
interesting to me because it had no plot or climax. It took me less than an hour to
read this very short book. The other Wayside books, such as Wayside School is
Falling Down, were better

| Reviewer: Ben F. 08 The story, The
Wayside School is about students in a classroom and what they are like. There are 30
students in the book to learn about. My favorite student is Dameon because one time he had
to run down 30 flights of stairs to ask Louis, the yard teacher, if he wanted to watch a
movie with class. Louis said, "What kind of movie?" Dameon ran up the 30 flights
of stairs to ask the teacher what kind of movie. The teacher said, "Does he want to
know the name of the movie of what its about?"
Dameon ran down the stairs to ask Louis if he wanted to know the name of
the movie or what it is about. Louis said, "He wanted to know the name of the
movie."
Dameon ran up the 30 flights of stairs to ask the teacher the name of the
movie. It was called Turtles. Dameon ran down again to tell Louis the name of the
movie. Dameon said, "The movie is called Turtles." Louis said that he
didnt want to see that movie. Dameon ran up the stairs one more time and said that
Louis didnt want to see the movie. By the time Dameon got back to the classroom the
movie was over.
Read The Wayside School to find out more about Dameon and his classmates.
