Title:  Trouble Don't Last
AuthorShelley Pearsall

Reviewer: Tyler Wel. '12

The main character is a slave boy named Samuel. He is taken care of by two slaves, Lilly and Harrison, because his Momma is sold. One night Harrison comes into the kitchen where Samuel is sleeping and gets him up to escape. They encounter many different people on their way to Canada in search of freedom. They hide in basements, churches, shacks, and houses. Samuel learns something about Harrison that changes his life. You'll have to read the book to learn what that something is!

When I first started to read this book I wanted to stop reading because it seemed slow, but I made myself finish it. I am glad that I did because it turned out to be very exciting. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about slaves and their lives.
