This book is about a girl named Gilly Hopkins. She is a foster child and has moved three times in three years. She is very clever. If she doesn't like her foster parents, she knows exactly what to do to make herself unwelcome. Gilly moves in with a woman named Maime Trotter, who is as big as an elephant and a boy named William Ernest who is very shy and watches "Sesame Street." She takes advantage of Trotter and tries to become his boss. But what she really tries to do is to get her real mother to want her again. She steals money from an old man down the street and gets to see her mother. Then she finds out that her grandmother paid her mother to come!! She goes back to Trotter's house. Then she has to move again!! She doesn't want to go, but she has to. She writes all the time and misses them very much!!

The Great Gilly Hopkinsis about an adopted girl named Gilly. Gilly is going on to her third family. Gilly is very mean. She lies and is very ungrateful. She makes trouble in her school and thinks it’s funny.

At home she always acts as though she hates it, but really she isn’t having a bad time. Gilly is trying to connect with her real mom but she can’t. One day someone comes to the door and says, "You’re coming with me." To find out more read the book.

This is a book about an 11 year old girl, Gilly. Gilly is a foster child and has been stuck in so many homes she can’t remember. Gilly has a reputation for being brilliant, unmanageable and brash. And when she goes to her next family, the Trotters, Gilly puts her great mind to a way to get her real mother to save her. Her plan worked except there was one thing in the way. When the day came to leave, Gilly really didn’t want to. She liked her real family way too much.

I would rate this book a five on a scale from 1 - 10 because it was aa average book. It didn’t leave you hanging, and it had a perfect amount of detail. I wouldn’t rate it a nine or ten because it wasn’t my type of book anad it wasn’t one of my favorites.

A foster child, Gilly Hopkins, is very tough and strong, but very sad inside. Gilly wants so much to know who her mother is that she will stop at nothing to find her. Can Gilly find her mother, or is it really not worth it? Gilly solves her personal problems, but not always in the best way.

I recommend The Great Gilly Hopkins because it is exciting, emotional and well written.
