of Trebond finally receives her shield as a knight. She goes on an adventure in the
North and gets caught up in a gang of bloodthirsty desert tribesmen, otherwise known as
robbers. They get into a huge fight until members of the Bloody Hawk tribe come and
help them drive the tribesmen away. Then members of the Bloody Hawks
take her to their village. They have every right to slay her for trespassing on
their land. Will the tribe finish Alanna or will they make her and her
man-in-arms members of the Bloody Hawk tribe? Read this zestful book to find
out. I would recommend this book to girls who like adventure and fantasy.

This is the third book in a series by Tamora Pierce. After Alanna, who becomes a
knight, is banished from the castle because she is a girl, she goes out adventuring. She
becomes part of the Bloody Hawk Tribe. There, she becomes the Shaman when the other Shaman
dies. She wants to leave and go somewhere else, so she teaches two girls and one boy to
become Shamans. Girls have never been Shamans before. A. has a magic sword and the boy
wants to use it. One night, when Alanna is sick, he takes the sword from her and uses it
unwisely. He dies. After that Alanna is afraid of magic herself, but she wants to teach
other people how to use their magic wisely. Read this book
because it is an adventure you wont want to miss!
