
Task:
For five consecutive school days, you will compare the weather
in an Hispanic city with the weather in Philadelphia. You will
accomplish this by consulting two web sites
http://cnnenespanol.com
http://weather.com
and finding the weather for each of the five days and entering
your data in Spanish
on the chart accompaning this project.

Process:
- Go to the Chart
page.
- You will save the chart as a source
document on your server account. To accomplish this task while
in Netscape, go to "File" and
select "Save Page." Make sure you
change the "File
Type to Source," put your first
name in front of the name chart, eg.
Mary Chart, find
your server account, by using the
"Desktop" button and select "Save."
- Using the resources given above,
find the weather in an Hispanic city and the weather in Phildelphia.
Hint: From the index on the left of the website, select the weather
category.
- To add your entries each day, you will open the saved
"chart" file in Page Mill.
Make sure your name is entered on the chart, and save your work
each day to your server account.
- At the end of five consecutive school days, you will save
your document a final time, then send it to your teacher through
e-mail as an ATTACHMENT .
- To send an attached document intitate a new e-mail message,
address it to dmers@ga.k12.pa.us,
subject should be Chart from "Your
Name", e.g. Chart from Mary, then go to Message
on menu bar, select and hold, scroll down and select 'Attach Docmument," an
open dialogue box will appear. Find your way to your server account
and the chart document, with the temperatures you collected,
"Select"
it and Hit "Open." The name of the document will appear on your
email message. Now hit "Send."

Time line:
Period A
Dec. 14 Meet in MSCALC for an introduction to project.
Jan 4 to Jan. 8 - work independently to collect data
Jan. 8 - send your chart as an attachment through e-mail
to Mrs. Mersky (dmers@ga.k12.pa.us)

Conclusion:
Through this mini-project, you will learn additional vocabulary
terms as you read and write in Spanish. You will be able to make
a relative comparison between the weather in a particular region
of the Spanish speaking world with the weather where you live.
You will have an introduction to weather and news source in Spanish.
You will gain experience using NetScape and multitasking betweeen
Page Mill and NetScape to gather your information. Finally, you
will learn how to send an attachment through your e-mail.
