Total Amount of Bacteria on Cutting Boards
Chrysten P
The Purpose of this experiment was to see how much bacteria grows on different kinds of cutting boards. Chicken was cut on the cutting board and let to sit for 15 minutes. The board was then rubbed by a cotton swab and the swab rubbed into a petri dish. This experiment was tested on two different cutting boards, a plastic one and a wooden one. After the procedure was done with both cutting boards, the petri dishes were sealed and placed into an incubator for 48 hours.
After completing this experiment, it was found that more bacteria was grown on plastic cutting boards than wooden. The average amount of bacteria colonies on the plastic cutting board was 23 and on the wooden there was 8.3 colonies. Plastic boards contain more bacteria that wooden ones.
