Do Antibiotics affect the Tissue Regeneration of Flatworms

John Y

The purpose of this experiment was to discover if a wounded flatworm will regenerate tissue quicker with antibiotics applied to the wound as opposed to a wound with no antibiotics applied to it. To preform this experiment flatworms were placed in a petri and cut in half and antibiotics were applied to there wounds. Also another group of worms was cut in half, but this time there was no antibiotics applied to the wound. After a week of observation the group with the antibiotics had regenerated about as much as the group with antibiotics. Both groups grew back about a millimeter, thus proving that antibiotics have no real effect on flat worms.
