The Energizer battery lasted the longest, with an average time of 11.50 hours. Duracell came in second, with an average of 10.72 hours, followed by Osco battery brand, with an average of 9.91 hours. The hypothesis that was made earlier in this experiment is rejected, for the reason that the Osco battery would last longer than the Duracell battery, and be second with a higher average than Duracell. In fact, the complete opposite happened, and Osco finished third instead of the assumed second.
Since the data in the first trial of the experiment was very close (11.76, 11.75, and 11.52 hours), but yet so much more spaced out in the second trial (11.15, 9.86, and 8.30 hours) the experiment could be repeated a third time to assure the outcome is verified. Also, the flashlights may not have died at a second apart, because they were not as closely monitored for their times, the information may be invalid for that certain trial.
Although the Energizer brand lasted longer then the Osco brand, it is debated whether or not people would save money buying a larger quantity of the shorter-lasting batteries then to spend more on a smaller quantity, longer-lasting batteries.
This experiment could be expanded by repeating the experiment once again, for the reasons of verifying. Different brands could be used, and different instruments could be used instead of flashlights. Also, a different measuring instruments could be used for the energy left in the battery.
