The purpose was to measure how much tar was in
regular cigarettes, low tar cigarettes, and cigars. To carry out this experiment
was built to collect tar from two cigars or cigarettes. The machine was
a tube running through a bucket of ice attached to a jug full of water.
When the water was let out of the jug it created a force which inhaled
puffs of the cigarettes or cigar.
After completing the experiment , it was found
that regular cigarettes had the least amount of tar (1.2g), closely followed
by low tar cigarettes (1.4g), with the most amount of tar in the cigars
(4.6).
