Will watering grass with salt and chlorine change the height to which it grows?
By Stef L.
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effects of salt and chlorine on the growth of grass. To perform this experiment, nine flower trays were filled with soil and fescue grass seeds were planted in each. Three trays were watered with 375ml of water, three were watered with 375ml of water mixed with one tablespoon of chlorine, and three were watered with 375ml of water mixed with one tablespoon of salt. Each day, the growth was measured in millimeters and pictures were taken.
After the experiment, it was found that water made grass grow the tallest. The three trays that were watered with water grew to an average of 160.00mm. Chlorine did not make the grass grow as tall as water did. The grass watered with chlorine grew to an average of 124mm. Salt made grass grow the least tallest. The grass watered with salt grew to an average of 114.33mm.
