The purpose of this experiment was to determine if special shampoos remove chlorine from hair. If so, what are the effects and which shampoo works the best? To do this experiment, a solution of chlorine and water was mixed. The solution was measured and poured into four different containers. The shampoo was mixed with one container of the solution in small amounts and measured with Precision Chlorine Test Paper. Shampoo was added until the paper returned to it's original color. This was repeated with all four shampoos. After completing the experimentation, the shampoo that was found to remove the most chlorine with the smallest amount of shampoo was "Ultra Swim" shampoo. It took 2 ml. of shampoo to remove all of the chlorine. The second most effective shampoo was "Vidal Sassoon", Taking 2.5 ml. of shampoo. The next most successful, "Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three" took 3 ml. of shampoo. These were followed by "Nexxus Aloe Rid" shampoo which took 5.5 ml. to remove all of the chlorine in the solution.
