Abstract:Comparison Of Carpet Cleaners
The purpose of this experiment was to compare various carpet cleaners and to demonstrate that they all work about the same in removing stains from carpets. To carry out this experiment, stains consisting of wine, motor oil, chocolate and coffee were placed on carpet swatches. Four carpet cleaners including resolve,409,Woolite,and Carbonara along with water,as control,were applied to each of the stains and were rubbed an equal number of times. The percent removal of the stains by the carpet cleaners and the water was measured and recorded.
After completing the experiment, it was found that the Resolve carpet cleaner was the best in removing the stains.The Resolve removed about75 percent of the stains in each instance,the 409 and Woolite removed about50 percent of the stains, and the Carbonara and water removed about 25 percent of the stains. Contary to the hypothesis,the mostexpensive carpet cleaner-resolve- definitley performed better than its competitors in removing stains from carpets.
