ABSTRACT
The purpose of this experiment was to find out what kind of dye works the best on certain, different materials. The different dyes were; Rit liquid dye, Rit powder dye, and Dylon powder dye. They all seemed to work the same, and it was the fabrics that were changing the outcome of the results.
For the fabrics, I used linen, cotton, and silk. In the beginning of the experiment, I observed the the linen was pretty much see-through, and I couldn't see through the silk at all. In result, the linen faded the most, the silk faded the least. This was because the weave of the linen was not tight at all and the fabric didn't keep the dye in it. It was not adherent to the dyes. The reason the silk didn't fade much at all, was because the silk's weave was very tight, and not see-through at all. Because of this, the silk was very adherent to the dyes. The silk turned out to be the best.
