The Battle of Lexington and Concord

By Jon

This event took place in April 19, 1775, at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. Some angry Americans refused to pay taxes so the British went to war with them. We do not know who, but someone shot, so then the whole British army started shooting and killed eight Americans.

The Americans got angry and the Boston Minuteman, who were soldiers, started shooting. This was not a long battle since it ended the same day it started, April 19, 1775.

A famous person was Paul Revere. He was the person who warned the towns of Lexington and Concord that the British were coming. Many years later, a poem was made that starts like this: "Listen my children and you shall hear, Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere."

Lexington and Concord started the Revolutionary War, which was a very famous war since it gave Americans liberty from the British. The Battle of Lexington and Concord was very important since it let Americans start to be free from the British so they could decide whether they wanted to pay taxes for tea from the King of England. It was also important since it started the Revolutionary War which gave America its freedom.
