Dear GA Faculty members and students,
Mrs. Carver's period D Stat class and Mrs. Chauveau's Fifth Grade math class are getting together to conduct a study. In the study, we will gatherstatistics related to backpack weight across all grade levels at GA. We are interested in finding out how much weight students are carrying in their backpacks, relative to their bodyweight.
A student will contact you a week ahead of time, about what would be a convenient time to weigh the pupils and their backpacks. We will provide the scales for the weighing process. All students' body weights will remain anonymous, so nobody should be hesitant to step on the scale.
For an accurate study, we suggest that teachers ask their students not to add or remove any items that would or wouldn't normally be in their backpack. All data will be gathered and recorded on a spreadsheet. Then we will make a series of graphs to show the results. Eventually, all of our research will be available on the World Wide Web.
We would greatly appreciate your assistance in this statisticalstudy. We are hopeful that the information we gather will be helpful to the health of all our students.
