THE IN "EVERYBODY ELSE'S BUSINESS" MAN

BY PAUL

There once were three friends who lived near what would one day be called the Great Wall of China. The oldest of the three friends was Wang, who was always getting into his friends' business. The other two were Ching and Chang, who were twins. The only reason that Ching and Chang were friends with Wang was because he saved them from being taken to help build the Great Wall.

Wang was annoying sometimes. If Ching or Chang tried to do something, Wang would come over and say things like "No, no that's not how you're supposed to do it," or "No, let me show you the right way to do it." Even if the way Wang did it really was the right way, it was still very annoying. Ching and Chang wanted to be able to do things the way they wanted to. If they ever did something they had done before, but they didn't do it the way Wang showed them, Wang would come over and tell them that if they didn't do it the way he told them he would have them taken to work on the Great Wall. As soon as Wang said this twins would beg him to not have them taken. They would even fall to the ground and kiss his feet. Since they all lived in the same house, the twins would cook the finest meals in China whenever Wang threatened to have them taken away. The reason he never had them taken away was because Wang had always been very rich, even as a child. He considered Ching and Chang more servants than friends. Since they almost always obeyed him and they always cooked the best food he decided to keep them. Even though Wang really thought of the twins as servants, when he was around them he treated them like family.

Everyday, Wang ordered the twins to carry him in his carriage to the highest hill, so that he could see how the men were coming along with the Great Wall. One day when the twins were tending to the garden, talking, they decided they had had enough of Wang always telling them what to do. They decided to throw him out of the carriage when they got to the top of the hill. When the time finally came the twins acted like it was just another trip to the top of the hill. When they were getting the carriage ready, they took all of Wang's money and put it in a secret compartment in the carriage. Finally the time came to go to the top of the hill. When they got to the top of the hill they threw Wang and all of his money out of the carriage. They knew that if he didn't die of the fall, the troops would make him work on the Great Wall.
