THE MAGIC

By Rob G.

Once upon a time there lived an elephant. But this was not any old elephant. This was an elephant with magic powers! The elephant also had a very special name. His name was Mao Tze Tung, the name of a great emperor of China.

Mao Tze Tung was just a regular elephant until one day, when he was getting a drink of water, Pu Na, his brother, pushed Mao into the water. When Mao got out of the water and shifted his body left, right then left again to dry off, he felt a tingle inside his body. At that time, he wished that Pu Na would trip on a rock and fall in the water, and that is exactly what happened!

The next time he used his magic was when he fell in love with another elephant named was Tai Tai. Mao shook his body a couple of times, then wished for Tai Tai to fall in love with him. A few seconds later, Tai Tai came over to Mao and asked to dance. Mao said, "Sure, why not?" feeling nervous, and, at the same time, exited.

After Mao had done those two things he was sure that it was not luck and, also, not dangerous. One day, when Mao was doing his magic, the emperor of China saw him. He sent two of his guards to tie him up and put him in one of the cells and keep him there until he told the guards, Ching and Chan, how he does his magic.

Once the guards captured Mao, they asked him, "How do you do your magic?"

But Mao refused to talk. Then, he thought why don't I just use my magic to escape."When he tried to shake himself, the ropes pulled him back. The guards were still watching Mao, but they just thought he was trying to break the ropes.

Chia, a dragon, sensed danger and flew to where his heart took him. He reached the castle where Mao was tied up. Meanwhile, the guards constantly repeated, "We demand that you tell us how you do your magic!"

But Mao just sat there looking away from the guards and not saying a word. Once the dragon saw what was happening to his friend, and how cruel the guards were, he smashed right through the wall and ripped the ropes that were holding Mao! Then, Mao got on Chia's back and they flew far, far away.

Everything was back to normal, except for one thing. The emperor executed both guards for not succeeding, and the elephant lived with the dragon, and showed him how to do magic, and they both lived happily ever after.
