Brutus and Pompey

 

His father, when he was alive, had taught Brutus to hate Pompey, who was a General in Rome, and in 77 Pompey killed his father. But when civil war broke out in 49, in Rome, Brutus sided with this man against Julius Caesar. Afterward, Pompey fled to Egypt, where he was killed, but Brutus was pardoned by Caesar. Then, he was made governor of Cisapline Gaul, and later governor of Macedonia. But even after all of these good things that Caesar had done for him, Brutus still resented his aristocratic rule, and longed for republican government to be restored.
