Julius Caesar changed the course of history for the Greco-Roman world. He was an extremely influential and talented man in the arts, political and military arena. He aroused great loyalty but his immense ambition and disregard for the Republican traditions was his downfall. His death began a period of brutal civil wars and power struggles that were inherited by his adopted son and heir, the future Augustus.
