in Latin! Most of the search results produce
pretty complicated
readings, but you might find something good
here. Plus, it's in Latin.
- Forum Romanum
- Lots of things to be
found here on Roman history, including
the kings of Rome. Some
mythology important to the Romans as
well, including Daedalus. Lots of
Roman images under the "et
cetera" link. Links to other
sources.

Home Page
- Ancient
texts, archaeological sites, Greek pottery--essentially,
all things
ancient. Searchable, but not real easy to find what
you're looking for.
Mostly Greek, but Roman Perseus is growing.

- Clickable Map
of the
Forum
- Images and descriptions/history of the major monuments
of
the Forum, including the Arch of Septimius Severus and the Basilica
of Constantine.
- Julia
Domna, wife of Septimius Severus
- A little bit about her life, but not much on Septimius. A
slightly
confusing read. No images.
- The Internet
Classics Archive
- This site is a search engine for Greek and Latin texts. The
English
translations are a little old, and therefore difficult,
but this is an
easy way to find what you're looking for in an
ancient source. No
images.
- Jugurtha
- A very brief bio on
Jugurtha, with a link to Massinissa.
No images.
- Cleopatra
- A biography of Cleopatra,
fairly easy to read, fairly detailed.
Linked to Shakespeare's play
Antony and Cleopatra and to Vergil's
Aeneid. Part of a site devoted to
women in ancient Rome.
- The
Biographies
- Short, easy to read, informative bios of almost all
the key
figures in Roman history from 100 BC to 100 AD, including all
of the ones from that time period on our list. Good portrait
images.
- Greek and Roman
History
- Mostly
links to ancient and modern sources. A mixed bag,
though most of the
Roman material focuses on Augustus.
- Classic Books
Library
- Gopher links to texts including Ovid, Tacitus,
Sophocles,
Bullfinch. The translations are pretty old, so a little bit
difficult.

- Not much on the figures in our list, but some good bios and
links,
and a good list of Roman women on coins, with links to
sites that have
coin images.
- Crazy Caesars
of Rome
- Good bios
of Caligula and Domitian. An attractive site with
some good portraits
and good layout ideas too.

- Good bios, not too difficult but with lots of
detail. Included:
Augustus, Nero, Domitian, Diocletian, others. One
image of each
emperor.

- Brief, easy to
read bio of Augustus. Part of Lucidcafe Library
on monarchs. Links to

- Written by a high school student, this is a pretty
detailed
but humorous look at Nero's life as a soap opera.
- Constantine
- Good bio of Constantine, detailed and not too difficult.

of the Empire.
- The Latin Library
- Original
Latin texts of various authors including Caesar,
Cicero, Suetonius,
Ovid, et al. There is also an extensive list

- A complete list of Roman holidays
with descriptions.
- Links to History

Mythology Sites
- This is a very attractive site with
lots of links to Greek
and Roman mythology sources, mostly, though
there are also some
history links. There is also a link to Egyptian
mythology. This
site seems to have been produced by a helpful fellow
who owns
a Greek restaurant (!?).

Mythology, 'The Age of Fable or
Stories of Gods and Heroes'
- Wide range of myths, not too
difficult to read. Some images,
mostly modern drawings. Cross linked.
- Tourist Guide
of Greece - Plous S.A.
- This is a site mostly about modern Greece, though it does
have some
brief descriptions on the Olympian gods. Useful mainly
for its
clickable map, which will give you geographical info
about each region
of Greece.
- Greek Mythology-Gods
- Short, easy to
read descriptions and myths. A few small images.
Some of this site is
still under construction, but the work on
the gods and goddesses and
their important myths is done (2-7-98).
- The
Book of Gods, Goddesses, Heroes and Other Characters of Mythology
- Extensive encyclopedia of mythology with short, easy to read
info
on gods, myths, epics (Aeneid and Odyssey). You can search
for names
alphabetically. Links to other sites. Mythology of
other cultures
included as well.
- OLYMPIANS,
Greek Mythology Link.
- All of the major gods, cross linked, with descriptions and
myths.
Pretty easy to read. One image of each god.

- After you
click one of the gods on this ugly little site,
you find yourself at
some beautiful pages with easy to read info
about the gods and lots of
images. Not a well organized site,
but there's lots of good stuff if
you don't mind a lot of navigating.
