Annie and the Wild Animals

Do you know of anyone who doesn’t enjoy a good play? Well, the children who performed a play based on the story Annie and the Wild Animals are no exception! The story is about a little girl named Annie who cannot find her cat and misses her terribly. She decides to lure another animal with corn cakes in order to tame it to become her new pet. Finally she discovers that Taffy left to have her new kittens! What a great job they all did portraying various characters in the play such as Annie, Taffy the cat, Moose, Wildcat, Deer, Bear, and the Wolf.

Certainly the play would not have been as interesting without our two capable narrators that kept the story moving along smoothly. But how could first graders remember all the lines while moving from place to place? And how could they know the appropriate time to speak their line? It is done easily when you place their individual lines of the script and the line of the character that speaks just before they do on the back of the beautiful pictures that were colored by that character. However, reading lines with expression as well as remembering where you should be standing, sitting or kneeling can present quite a challenge but those wonderfully talented thespians met the challenge with enthusiasm and proficiency. Do you think they had fun while doing this play? We suggest that you discover and measure that answer by the broad smiles on their faces!
