Experiencing Ecuador

Mrs. Mabel Johnson visited GA and taught the first graders about Ecuador.  Her family originates from this country, so her first-hand knowledge enhanced the students’ understanding of this culture.

She began with an explanation of the country’s geography and how that affects their way of life.  She wore traditional clothing of a poncho, a hat and sandals.  Cultural traditions including the music and dancing of Ecuador allowed all of the children to participate in the program!  The final treat was a sampling of quake, a traditional drink, and chips made from plantains, the small green bananas grown in Ecuador.
