A goal of the science program is for the children to appreciate and explore their environment and form a lasting appreciation of the world around them. Every week the children spend time with two science teachers. The topics which are taught by the specialist are nature history, meteorology, animals, chemistry and human ecology. These concepts are presented to the children through hands-on activities and experiments. During these sessions the children are asked to observe, predict, problem solve, hypothesize and appreciate their environment.
Science occurs informally in the classroom. The childrens curiosity leads them to discover the wonders of the natural world. We welcome pets from home (by arrangement). The language arts theme on animals provides students with the opportunity to conduct research on an animal of their choice and to learn more about animal characteristics.
