• Halloween - October 31, 2007. A highlight of the year is our traditional Halloween parade around the quad. Teachers and students of all ages enjoy dressing up in costumes for a morning of fun. We will travel to Merrymead Farm in the afternoon. Please read our original Halloween poetry written for the celebration.
• The Philadelphia Insectarium - November. The Insectarium is the only all-insect museum on the east coast. Mounted insects from all over the world line the walls of the gallery. There are also exhibits that feature live insects in their natural habitats as well as interactive activities that teach students more about the life of an insect.
• Museum of Natural Science - January. To complement our dinosaur unit, children will participate in a scavenger hunt through Dinosaur Hall. With the use of guided questions the children will discover interesrting information on dinosaurs. There will also be an opportunity to tour other exhibits in the museum.
• Peace Valley Nature Center - April/May
• Children will participate in a two hour guided tour dealing with the Lenape way of life. We will discover how the Lenape Native Americans lived by visiting a wigwam, pounding corn, playing Native American games, and participating in various other activities.
• Brunt Lenape Indian Museum - April/May Elwood Brunt is a collector of Native American artifacts. While visiting his museum, children will see stone arrowheads, axes, agriculture impliments, and host of other objects that are silent reminders of a time past.

Noteworthy Events From Past Years

• Kala JoJo- November 27, 2000 Kala JoJo is a professional storyteller, educator, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. Rooted in African traditions, he performs with authentic African instruments. Kala masterfully draws students in as he shares his songs, chants, and stories as an expression and celebration of life. Storytelling is at the heart of Kwanzaa, a cultural harvest celebration.
• A Visit with Artist Samuel R. Byrd - February 21, 2001 Born and raised in Philadephia Samuel Byrd has loved and created art since childhood. He has exhibited his work nationally and is the illustrator of eight children's books. Mr. Byrd has designed and painted many murals around the city of Philadelphia. He is the creator of the offical poster of the Million Women March. Mr. Byrd is a diverse artist who utilizes the abstract as well as realism to express himself. He is especially known for his pencil drawings as well as his use of acrylic and water colors.
