Hello my name is Bert.  I am a 7-year-old child.  I must be very, very good.  The schoolmaster is very mean.  My parents have sent me to a Common School.  We have to give the master firewood to keep the classroom warm.  I like recess a lot.  I play marbles, tag, and hoop.  I must go the schoolmaster is calling me.

My name is Jake.  Today I was punished because I was whispering to a friend.  I have to wear whispering sticks.  I am very embarrassed because these whispering sticks make me look dumb.  I am not dumb!

My name is Matthew.  I didn’t answer a question correctly in school so I have to wear a dunce cap.  I do not like it.  Dunce means stupid.  I’m so embarrassed.  I’m not stupid even if everyone thinks I am.  It’s not funny.  If you wore a dunce cap you would not like it one bit.

Hello my name is Varun.  I was punished today at school.  I was called Bite Finger Baby because I was caught biting my fingernails.  I wore a card around my neck that said Bite Finger Baby.  I AM NOT a baby.  I was soo embarrassed.  All my friends laughed at me.
