Our trip to the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation provides an opportunity for our third grade students to get a hands-on experience of colonial farm life. Although the farm museum was established in 1974, this 112 acres in Edgmont Pennsylvania has been farmed continuously since the late 1600's. The house was built by the Pratt family in 1720's. The children saw wood, make candles, fetch water from the well, and tour the house and barn yard. They learn how difficult life was for children and their parents as everyone had to work very hard to sustain their daily lives.
The students have compiled and A-Z tour of the plantation, highlighting aspects of their visit. Let us be your guides to life on a Colonial farm.
