1. One of the things women did for work was sew quilts.
2. A blacksmith was not only a blacksmith, but was also a dentist and only pulled out teeth if they hurt.
3. Since people walked a lot the cobbler  had a lot of work.
4. When it came to making ships everybody helped...lumberman, blacksmith, rope makers, carpenters, and sailmakers.
5. Coopers made barrels.
