HOW TO MAKE: Candles
 
 

MATERIALS: Animal fat, wax, drying rack,

hot tallow,and linen wax. There were also three

things you could put them on. They were a wall

sconce, candle stick, and a tin wall sconce with reflector.

DIRECTIONS:

1. Take a piece of wick.

2. Take wax.

3. Make a fire.

4.Put an S- hook over the fire.

5. Put the wax in a pot.

6.Attach the pot on the S- hook.

7.Put the pot over the fire.

8. After you heat it, put it on a table.

9.Take the wick. Put it on your index finger and middle finger.

10.Put your thumb over your two fingers and wick.

11. Dip the wick an inch away from your finger into the pot.

12. After dipping it a lot, you will notice it will be dripping and drying. Take scissors and cut it.

13.Keep dipping until it is thick. Then you will finish!

USES FOR CANDLES:

It shows you are rich. Also for decoration. They only used candles when they wrote letters. When Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, he needed light and after that he would blow the candle out and use it over again.
