We seek to integrate the use of technology
within all of our curriculum. First and foremost we encourage
the children to learn keyboarding skills by utilizing software
programs such as Type To Learn. We prepare weekly
directed lessons so the children will acquire the skills that
are necessary to use the computer successfully.
We have continued to build and to extend
the technology program in third grade. Advances in technology
integration include students typing, scanning images, e-mailing,
and creating web pages. We are utilizing a variety of
software to increase the skill and facility of our students.
Basic skills that are taught
in Third Grade consist of:

a. Manipulating text through cut, copy, pasting
b. Changing text style through font, size, and style attributes
c. Applying correct formatting and alignment

b. Applying return key and spacebar
c. Home row reinforcement

Grade
The Online
Onramp provides preselected, age-appropriate, safe resources
for curricular use. Timely information such as
school event days and project due dates are posted on the
3rd grade front page. Information such as homework policies
and other frequently asked questions are listed for parent
reference.
We have been using the digital camera more and more. Sometimes
these images are displayed on our web site and/or other times
photos are printed and placed on bulletin boards. We are looking
into ways
to incorporate these digital images into student portfolios.
