Throughout the month of April, fourth graders study the Civil War and participate in Independent Study Groups (ISG). In these groups, the children read a Civil War novel. These groups are different than our previous reading groups because the students run the show! They decide how much to read each night, what projects they want to do, and they even present lesson plans to their group members. One project during ISG is a character study. With another group member, the students used Inspiration to map out the important characteristics of a main character from their novel. Here are the results of their character studies.
