Each fall, the students in fourth grade visit the Ft. Washington State Park to spend a day outdoors. We call it Writing/Sketching/Science Day. The experience of being outside on a crisp autumn day is designed to inspire our students to write poetry. The poems below reflect the feelings and thoughts the children have about the season. You might notice that some poems contain similes, metaphors, personification, and interesting, descriptive language that helps the reader see and feel the spirit of autumn.
