After each reading a biography of an African-American of their choice, the children created scrapbooks to represent the person's life. In these books you will find birth certificates, diary entries, new articles, letters to the children from the famous person, certificates of achievement, commemorative stamps, articles of memorabilia and more. The children then became the people studied and presented their scrapbooks to the class in character.
