The fourth grade investigated Lewis and Clark's expedition across the northwest by reading, visiting websites, watching videos, and traveling to the Academy of Natural Sciences to tour the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Exhibit.
As a culminating project, each child was assigned a "leg" of the voyage, based on the National Geographic website: nationalgeographic.com/lewisandclark/journey

The children wrote their own journal entries and drew pictures of discoveries and observations. The writings were then turned into a PowerPoint presentation. Below are examples of the project.

Heading Into Danger by Olivia S.

Racing gainst Winter's Approach by Christina T.

The Grizzly Country by Adam V.

A Fork in the Road by Lane U.

Toward the Continental Divide by Erin P.

Crossing the Bitterroots Again by Devin C.

This project designed and implemented by David Nagel, Jilia Blumenreich and Graham Martin, fourth grade teachers at Germantown Academy. Technical assistance and web page design furnished by Carol Siwinski, Curricular Technology Specialist.
