After our day at the Highlands and the reenactment the Constitutional Convention, the next day we took a trip into Philadelphia to see where everything actually took place. One exciting part of this trip was the train ride into the city. For many kids, it was their first time on a train! Once we arrived into Center City we took a tour of Independence Hall (known as the State House at the time of the Convention), the Liberty Bell, and the brand new, beautiful Independence Visitors' Center. We had lunch, which included delicious hot chocolate, at the famous Bourse building. We also took carriage rides through Old City. Our tour guides told us fascinating tales about Benjamin Franklin, Paul Revere, George Washington, and other intriguing people from that time. We learned about and saw the taverns they visited, the inns in which they stayed, and the streets where they walked! Check out the pictures of our adventures in Philadelphia below... |
