Background:

The Colonial America Stamp Project developed out of the cooperative efforts of the three fourth grade teachers and the school librarian. The project was designed to build upon the research skills of our students and incorporate their interests in writing and drawing. We looked at the resources available to us and selected a range of reading materials that would be appropriate for the interests and reading levels of our students. We were sensitive to multicultural issues and looked for topics that could broaden the traditional base and include groups that historically have been overlooked in colonial history. There are three fourth grade sections where you may view the students stamps and a brief description of the topic studied. We have also provided all of the materials used in this unit of study for duplication.
