Grandmother

By Karen P.

World War II was terrible for many
My grandmother was just a baby
She had to get on a train and ride away
To be safe from the Germans
The train went fast and my grandmother cried
But she was on her way to a peaceful place
Suddenly, there were planes in the air and bombs going off everywhere
Her train had to stop and her mother jumped off
She was all alone on the train
Her beloved cousin came in for the luggage
He found her lying and crying on a seat
He picked her up and held her tight
She was saved from death
My great-grandmother was so grateful that her little girl was alive
My grandmother told me this story and I felt sad inside
I often thank G-d that she is alive
So I can be here too.
