Welcome to America

An
Immigration Poem
By Kevin W.
Welcome
to America
A
long trip from Lithuania makes me wonder,
Will I make it?
A looming figure appears from the mist.
It renews my spirit and hope.
When
I reach Ellis Island I ask myself,
Can I get in?
When
I finally come into America I only have enough money to rent a
tenement.
America,
I expected so much, but I see so little.
Welcome
to America.
