A Journey through the Rainforest

by Joshua K.

See all of the trees,

Reaching up to the sky,

See all of the birds flying in the canopy,

Up so high.

See the macaw parrots,

And the hoatzin chick,

See the red-eyed tree frog,

It uses just one finger to hang from a limb branch, or stick.

See the water monkeys,

They hold their babies in their mouths to protect them,

See the temperate rainforest,

Home of the salmon.

See the pacific yew tree,

It holds taxol, a cure to cancer,

Though loggers must stop cutting down trees,

Like the Douglas fir.

Or the medications might be lost,

Along with all the animals,

Like the three-toed sloth.

We must help save,

The rainforest now,

We can all make a difference,

We just have to know how.
