Eagle's Story

Once there was a boy named Gluskabi. He had magical powers because he was the son of the Great Spirit.
He was walking along one day when he saw Eagle and he decided to tease him. Gluskabi flew up to the eagle's nest.
It felt good to fly again.He could sense the eagle hated the number four. As he thought, Eagle did hate the number four.
Gluskabi flew around to prevent Eagle from getting to his nest. The teasing of Eagle went on all through the forest as quick as your fingers could snap.
Suddenly it was old news.
The Great Spirit was coming today. He had been the main news for the whole month. Everyone talked about him.
It was getting closer and closer to the time he was coming.
Suddenly the clouds disappeared. The mighty Great Spirit appeared.
He came down with power. The earth shook. Lightning struck in the sky. It signaled the Great Spirit 's arrival.
Great Spirit accidentally crushed an ant. Since he cared about every creature he had made, he healed it right away.
It was the first miracle the Great Spirit wrought.
He saw Gluskabi kidding around
with the eagle, he knew right away that Gluskabi was getting the
good part and the eagle was getting the bad part.
Great Spirit immediately helped Eagle. Gluskabi lost his powers,
and Eagle gained them.
"Wow" said Eagle.
Gluskabi sobbed and sobbed. He had made the biggest mistake in his life.
The Great Spirit had equaled him to Eagle.
He was now puny compared to Eagle.
The tribe Gluskabi came from still honors Eagle.
Today we honor Eagle by putting him on the American quarter.
