The Grizzly Bear's not Grizzly
by Jon
Near where the woods meet the the sky, there lived a Brown Bear. He had a cave next to the long peaceful River. The bear was nice and generous, he gave the people food when they needed it. The Bear was good friends with all of the animals because he respected what they were, especially the small animals.
Every time Bear needed food he went to the animals and each time one animal sacrificed their body so bear could eat. Since the people liked to fish they produced fish for the bear. The Bear also shared the meat with the other carnivores since the animals respected the bear the most. Although the Bear had all the friends in the world, there was one animal, one thing that hated the Bear.
That was the Black Bear. He hated him because he thought the Brown Bear disgraced the Bear family because he thought that Bears should always be near and strong and that nobody should ever dare challenge the bear or the bear should kill them. But the Bear was always kind to the Black Bear and never did what he was told from the Black Bear.
The Black Bear had four long black claws which he always bragged about.
"There's no animal in this whole world world that could beat me", he said.
One day while the bear was visiting the biggest tribe around, a member of another tribe, Algonkian, which was similar to the Algonguins, came screaming toward the Algonquin people.
He said the English and the Iroquis were trying to attack them with the French trying to hold them back. The Algonquins decided to charge upward and hold them back before they hit the village. The Algonquins joined the French in trying to hold them back.
The Brown and Black Bear raced to the war. The Bears could understand the Indians' calls because the Indian Language was the most common language in North America. So he heared the language so much that he can understand it. After the war, the animals got mad. The Black Bear told the Brown Bear that the animals were playing a trick on him.
So he went back to the angry animals. And the angry animals yelled at the Bear, "We almost starved." They jumped on the Bear cutting and ripping him. The Bear finally broke out from his soft loving self into a mean tough Grizzly Bear. This Bear was now three times a big as his normal self.
As soon as the animals saw him, they flew and were silent. Now they know that the Grizzly Bear was not his soft self and knew they could not ask anything of him again. Now the Grizzly Bear killed animals instead of asking them to sacrifice their body. And he did not give food to other animals or people.
When the people heard this they left and formed two other tribes, the Ottawa and the Nipissing tribes.
So now when ever you see an angry Brown
Bear you know that bear is just waiting to break out into a mean, strong,
tough, Grizzly Bear.
